Garbatulla, Isiolo County| Isiolo Woman Representative Mumina Bonaya faced a hostile reception today as she was heckled while addressing a public gathering in the presence of President William Ruto in Garbatulla, Isiolo County.

The disruption occurred as the legislator attempted to deliver her speech during the President’s development tour of Northern Kenya.

In a bold response, Bonaya accused government employees of orchestrating the heckling to undermine her.

“Your Excellency, the noise you are hearing here has been planned by the very people you recently appointed to government jobs. They are the ones engaging in such divisive politics,” Bonaya told President Ruto, pointing fingers at individuals within the administration.

Local pundits say she was referring to the recently appointed Gender chairperson Rehema Jaldesa who is thought to be her arch nemesis and Sports CEO Nuh Ibrahim.

Despite the interruptions, the MP remained composed and continued her speech, outlining her plans and commitments to the electorate.

She reaffirmed her dedication to development and representation, undeterred by the hostile reception.

President Ruto, who has been on a whirlwind tour of Northern Kenya, arrived in Isiolo County earlier in the day as part of his ongoing efforts to launch and oversee government projects in the region.

His visit to Garbatulla Sub-County saw the initiation of several development initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, economic opportunities, and public services for the residents.

While the heckling incident highlighted underlying political tensions, the President proceeded with his scheduled engagements, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to fostering progress across all counties, including those in the arid and semi-arid regions of Northern Kenya.

Political analysts note that the heckling of public officials, particularly in politically competitive regions, underscores the growing political rifts and power struggles ahead of future elections.

However, leaders are urged to maintain focus on service delivery and unity for national development.

President Ruto’s tour of Northern Kenya is expected to wind up with visit to the county headquarter in Isiolo town where he will inspect ongoing projects and engage with local leaders and residents.
