ICBNews (icbnews.co.ke) is a dynamic news and media platform dedicated to bridging the Horn of Africa with the rest of the world through digital transformation.
We are committed to delivering timely, accurate, and insightful news from both the region and beyond, ensuring that local communities stay informed and engaged in global conversations.
Operating under Waso Media Group Limited, a company incorporated in June 2020 in Kenya, ICBNews was established with the vision of empowering local voices and providing a platform for news and storytelling from Northern Kenya and the broader Frontier region.
Our Origins and Mission
The idea for ICBNews was first conceived in 2013 and gained momentum in 2017 when we launched as a Facebook page.
Inspired by Rappler.com—a Philippines-based media outlet that evolved from a Facebook page into a full-fledged news platform—we embarked on a similar journey, determined to create an independent digital news source for our region.
Despite facing initial setbacks, we persevered and successfully developed the current platform, which is proudly designed, built, and managed by men and women from Northern Kenya.
This deliberate move demonstrates to the world that talent, innovation, and excellence exist in the region and can thrive despite historical challenges.
Our ultimate goal is to become the leading hub for news and current affairs in the Horn of Africa, ensuring that communities that have long been marginalized in digital transformation can finally have their own voices heard.
