Rufo Jirma Boru(Rufas Tiya) was born in the hilly Sololo town, a small township in Northern Kenya county of Marsabit. However, while still a kid, her family moved with her to Nairobi where she studied and finished her ‘O’ levels.
After high school, Rufas started showing interest in the arts industry. She started out as a comedian at first but later switched to making music, an area in which she excelled and which eventually made her a household name in Northern Kenya.
Tiya sings in the local dialect of Afaan Oromoo, the predominant language that is spoken widely in Northern Kenya counties of Marsabit, Isiolo, Mandera and Wajir. Her most popular songs include simu teh d’abe innolin, Ansidabu infed, Sololo tiya(a duet with homeboy King Fulele) and Immeen aayyaa just to mention but a few.
Back in September this year, Rufas revealed that she had lost her previous channel to unscrupulous hackers. The channel had a substantive seventeen thousand followers, a figure that she garnered less than a year after joining the entertainment industry.
