Elders from the Jidda Maliyu clan in Isiolo County have firmly rejected a planned political installation of a parallel president, describing the move as an illegitimate scheme orchestrated by outsiders.
The senior-most elders, in an emotional and uncompromising address, accused Mzee Mokku of blatant interference in the internal affairs of their community.
They maintained that no outsider holds the mandate to impose leadership on a clan with established governance structures and legitimate institutions .
The elders revisited what they termed Mokku’s long record of marginalizing Jidda Maliyu members during his tenure as Member of Parliament.
They cited transfers, demotions, and systematic exclusion of community members from public service opportunities as evidence of his disregard for their welfare.
Community Reaffirms Support for Diba Kiyana
The elders reaffirmed that His Excellency Diba Kiyana remains the legitimate and universally recognized President of Jidda Maliyu.
They insisted that his mandate, together with his secretariat and cabinet, can neither be manufactured nor overturned through political theatrics.
According to the elders, the opposition’s attempt to create a parallel leadership is a futile mission aimed at stopping a train that has already left the station.
The SAKU–JIMA political arrangement has already won broad acceptance across the Jidda Maliyu family and continues to gather unstoppable momentum.
The overwhelming turnout and declarations of support from respected top elders speak louder than propaganda.
These elders command the confidence of thousands of Jidda Maliyu members, making tomorrow’s gathering nothing more than political theatre sustained by sections of the local opposition and individuals from outside the JIMA family.
Growing Wave of Rejection Across Isiolo
The political push to impose a proxy leader on Jidda Maliyu continues to face fierce resistance. The Chari chapter has joined a growing list of elders and community leaders rejecting the move.
From across Isiolo County, voices have emerged in remarkable unity to denounce what they view as a local opposition-sponsored project disguised as a clan process.
The position taken by the Cherab elders mirrors similar declarations already issued by Jidda Maliyu elders from Merti, Garba, and Sericho. They have equally rejected the process and questioned its legitimacy.
More than 150 prominent Jidda Maliyu elders from Cherab came out strongly to condemn and distance themselves from the purported elevation of Dida Kula as president.
They termed the process irregular, imposed, and devoid of community legitimacy. According to the elders, leadership of such a revered institution cannot be handpicked through political convenience but must emerge from the collective will of the community.
Legitimacy Cannot Be Manufactured
With opposition mounting across key Jidda Maliyu strongholds, the planned coronation of Mzee Dida is increasingly being portrayed as a politically sponsored proxy project rather than a genuine community undertaking.
The growing wave of rejection has effectively rendered the exercise dead on arrival, raising serious questions about its credibility, acceptance, and moral authority.
As declarations of support continue to pour in from all Borana zones, the reality on the ground is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. The endorsements are revealing where the true strength and numbers of Jidda Maliyu reside.
Critics argue that Saturday’s gathering is being assembled through a combination of opposition interests and participants drawn from different clans in an attempt to project broader backing than actually exists.
In the court of public opinion, legitimacy is being earned through community endorsement, not political choreography.
The elders concluded that legitimacy cannot be manufactured, and the will of the people cannot be substituted.
Their position remains firm and final: Diba Kiyana is the legitimately recognized president of Jidda Maliyu and enjoys the confidence of the overwhelming majority.
