Garbatulla, Isiolo County| Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan, popularly known as Guyo, on 12th of April, 2025, joined residents of Garbatulla in a moving community fundraiser held in support of a local family that recently lost their home in a devastating fire.
The event, marked by emotional speeches and an outpouring of goodwill, brought together local leaders, residents, and well-wishers in a collective show of compassion and unity.
In his address, Governor Guyo expressed deep gratitude and admiration for the people of Garbatulla, praising their overwhelming generosity and unwavering sense of community.
“In the face of such adversity, the unity, generosity, and empathy shown by the community moved me deeply,” he said.
“It is in these moments that the true spirit of Isiolo shines—when we come together, not as individuals, but as one family, bound by love, care, and shared humanity.”
The Governor emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in supporting vulnerable families, particularly during times of crisis.
He lauded the community’s swift response and encouraged residents across Isiolo County to continue embodying values of solidarity and compassion.
Governor Guyo was accompanied by several county leaders, including Majority Leader and Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Garbatulla Ward, Abdirashid Gira; Abubakar Godana (Sericho Ward); and Meja Golicha (Chari Ward), among others.
Together, they extended both moral and material support to the affected family, assuring them that they were not alone in their moment of need.
“This is more than just about rebuilding a house,” Governor Guyo noted. “It is about rebuilding hope, dignity, and the assurance that in Isiolo, no one stands alone in the face of tragedy.”
The community fundraiser drew significant participation from local residents, community-based organizations, and faith leaders, reflecting the strength of the social fabric in Garbatulla and the broader Isiolo County.
Contributions in cash and kind were made to help the family begin the process of recovery and rebuilding.
Governor Guyo concluded by commending the spirit of unity witnessed during the fundraiser and urged all county residents to continue fostering a culture of empathy and mutual support.
“While tragedy may break down walls, it can never break the bonds that hold us together,” he said.
