The Nakuru Rugby Football Club (NRFC) has secured a timely and substantial financial boost ahead of the much-anticipated Great Rift Nakuru 10s tournament, slated for April 19–20, 2025, at the historic Nakuru Athletics Club grounds.
The financial injection is expected to significantly enhance the club’s preparations while elevating the prestige and smooth organization of one of Kenya’s most celebrated rugby tournaments.
The Office of the Governor, Nakuru County, contributed a generous Sh500,000 to NRFC, reaffirming the county administration’s commitment to nurturing sports talent and promoting athletic excellence in the region.
The donation was presented during a brief ceremony attended by key county officials and political leaders.
“This support demonstrates the county’s dedication to sports as a vehicle for youth empowerment and social progress,” said Martin Kagai, Chief Officer in the Office of the Governor.
“We recognize the transformative power of sports, not only in fostering talent but also in promoting unity, healthy lifestyles, and economic vibrancy.” Kagai explained.
“Nakuru County remains steadfast in supporting initiatives that uplift our youth and communities.” She added with finality.
Complementing the county’s support, well-known Nakuru entrepreneur David Kanene donated Sh100,000 to the club, underscoring growing private sector interest in supporting grassroots sports initiatives.
His contribution reflects the broader community’s recognition of rugby’s growing significance in Nakuru’s cultural and economic fabric.
