New Mosque to Serve as Hub for Worship and Community Development Ahead of Ramadhan

Marsabit County witnessed a significant milestone in its religious and social development as Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, representing the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, officiated the grand opening of the Masjid Nur mosque in North Horr.

The modern mosque, a symbol of unity and collaboration, was constructed through the joint efforts of the Chalbi Da’wa Group, Turkish Hayrat Yardim, and Kenya’s Muslim business community.

The project, completed after five years of dedicated fundraising, is set to serve as both a place of worship and a center for community development, opening just in time for the holy month of Ramadhan.

During the ceremony, CS Duale commended the collaborative spirit that brought the project to fruition, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in fostering religious harmony and social progress.

He also pledged the government’s support for the construction of the mosque’s ablution block, reaffirming the state’s commitment to supporting religious and community-based projects.

The event was graced by a host of dignitaries, including Marsabit Governor Mohammed Mahmoud, Marsabit Senator Mohammed Chute, North Horr MP Adhe Wario, Former Treasury CS Amb. Ukur Yattani, and Nema Director General Mamo B. Mamo, among others.

Local residents and religious leaders also turned out in large numbers to celebrate the historic occasion.

The Masjid Nur mosque is expected to play a pivotal role in the community, not only as a spiritual center but also as a venue for educational and social programs.

Its completion marks a new chapter for North Horr, offering a space for unity and growth as the region prepares to observe Ramadhan.

The project stands as a testament to the power of collective effort and the enduring spirit of faith and community in Kenya.
