President William Samoei Ruto on Thursday emphasized the need for national unity in the wake of recent protests that have rocked the country.
Speaking in Tharaka Nithi County, President Ruto acknowledged the numerous challenges facing the nation and expressed his resolve to transcend partisan politics.
“Because of the problems that we have in our country, I have decided that there is no need to continue sidelining other people,” Ruto told the gathering.
He went on to outline his vision for a more inclusive government, saying, “I have said that we will form a government of national unity, we will pay Kenya’s debts together, we will collect taxes together, and we will work on development together.”
Ruto was accompanied by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, Interior cabinet secretary nominee Kindiki Kithure, Governor Muthomi Njuki, and Senator George Murugara, among several others, as he launched various development projects in the county.
On Wednesday President Ruto nominated four opposition figures, including Hassan Joho (Mining and Blue Economy), John Mbadi (Treasury), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives), and Opiyo Wandayi (Energy), for cabinet positions.
