One Major Ibrahim Juma Wasike, a Kenya Defence Forces Officer was on 20th ofJanuary 2023 sentenced to five years and eight months in prison by a Court Martial sitting at Lang’ata Barracks after being found guilty of recruitment malpranctises.

The court martial that was presided over by Principal Magistrate of Makadara Law Courts Agnes Wahito, found Major Ibrahim Juma Wasike guilty of two counts.

The first count is committing a civil offence contrary to section 133 (1) (b) of the KDF Act, obtaining by false pretence contrary to section 313 of the penal code.

Major Wasike on this count was convicted of colluding with one Job Lukale Maina alias Joseph Adiedo Mola to obtain one hundred thousand shillings (Kshs. 100,000/=) in cash from Mr. Colley Njeru in the false pretense that he was in a position to recruit Mr. Kevin Gitonga Munene into the KDF during the February 2021 recruitment exercise.

This comes at a crucial time in the fight against corruption in the country and public service offices. Recruitment of police officers has been marred with heavy corruption allegations in the past and this may just be a tip of the iceberg in terms of how deeply rooted the culture of bribing ones self into the service has become.

Below are photos from the court session where the accused was found guilty on all counts.
