Governor of Isiolo County Abdi Guyo Ibrahim led a bevy of Isiolo county’s top political leadership in marking the 59th Jamhuri Day celebrations at Garba Tulla.
The governor was accompanied by, among others, the area MP Mr. Mohamed Tubi(Isiolo South), County MP Ms. Mumina Bonaya, Isiolo County Assembly speaker Mr. Mohamed Roba and a host of local MCAs who include, among others Mr. Lemantile who is also the Deputy speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly. The Deputy Governor Dr. James Lowasa was also present at the event.
Mr. Ibrahim touted his administration’s progress since being elected into office some three months ago and assured the area residents that he is ‘on top of things’ as far as implementing his ambitious development plan is concerned.
“I would like to thank each and every one of you for electing me as your third governor. I know by doing so, you have placed your full trust and confidence in me and on my part, I promise to serve you dilligently,” said the governor in his key-note address.
Guyo paid tribute to Garba Tulla’s central position in Isiolo’s history as the County’s oldest town and where former colonial adminstration had its base.
“I am delighted to host this 59th Jamhuri Day celebration here in this historical town of Garba Tulla. This town carries so much rich history as the oldest town that existed during colonial times and marking the Jamhuri Day celebration here is all-intentional in demonstrating my administrations plan to put in place measures and strategies that will build back Garbatulla town to its former glory as a business hub where different communities co-existed peacefully,” reiterated the governor while revealing that his adminstration had huge plans for the historical town which has lately been marred with brutal battle of supremacy between two communities over pasture and water resources.
The newly elected governor also lamented about the current drought situation which he says is “far from over” as the rains the region got was “way below” what had been expected. The governor addressed the situation as the “most difficult” experienced in recent years.
He further touted his adminstration’s progress in revamping the health sector saying the “progress is visible” as most facilities are “not only well-managed but also essential drugs are available on the counter,” says the governor in his keynote speech.
