In the face of growing insecurity across Isiolo County, local authorities are urging residents to take an active role in peacebuilding and strengthen community-led security initiatives.
The appeal comes as repeated outbreaks of violence continue to hinder development, destroy property, and claim innocent lives.
County Police Commander Isaac Sang has voiced deep concern over the troubling trend.
He noted that persistent clashes are not only slowing economic progress but also tearing apart the social fabric that holds communities together.
Sang called on the people of Isiolo and their neighbouring pastoralist communities to reject violence outright and work collectively toward a lasting and inclusive peace.
He further stressed the need to respect human life above all other considerations.
The Commander’s remarks follow a brutal attack in Kambi Samaki, located within Garbatulla Sub-County.
In that incident, armed assailants ambushed a group travelling on a motorcycle while they were searching for livestock.
One person was killed on the spot, and two others sustained serious injuries.
Among the wounded is a Kenya Police Reservist, highlighting the risks faced even by auxiliary security personnel.
Security agencies have since launched thorough investigations into the attack.
Efforts are currently underway to track down and apprehend those responsible, as the region remains on high alert.
Community members are being encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement by sharing any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
