Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan, popularly known as Guyo, has officially launched two transformative infrastructure projects — the Kamukuri Bridge and the Ola Jarole Tarmac Road — in Bulapesa Ward, marking a significant milestone in the county’s efforts to improve accessibility and promote regional development.
Bulapesa Ward, the most densely populated in Isiolo County, has long grappled with inadequate infrastructure, especially during the rainy seasons when flooding frequently renders roads impassable.
The commissioning of these projects is seen as a critical intervention to mitigate these perennial challenges.
The Kamukuri Bridge is expected to provide a safer and more reliable crossing for residents who have often been cut off from essential services and markets due to seasonal floods.
Meanwhile, the Ola Jarole Road, now upgraded to bitumen standards, will enhance mobility for schoolchildren, traders, farmers, and daily commuters traveling to and from Isiolo town.
Speaking at the launch event, Governor Hassan highlighted the broader social and economic impact of the projects, underscoring his administration’s dedication to inclusive development.
He noted that improving local infrastructure is key to unlocking economic potential, facilitating service delivery, and improving the quality of life for Isiolo residents.
“These improvements are not just about roads and bridges,” the governor stated. “They are about restoring dignity and creating opportunities for our people.”
Governor Hassan also issued a directive to the implementing contractor to fast-track the completion of the remaining construction works.
He stressed the importance of maintaining high standards and ensuring that the projects are delivered within the stipulated timelines.
The launch was attended by local leaders, residents, and officials from the county government, many of whom welcomed the projects as a long-overdue response to the infrastructure needs of the area.
As Isiolo County continues to position itself for growth and resilience, such infrastructure developments are expected to play a vital role in bridging socio-economic gaps, fostering regional integration, and supporting long-term development goals.
