Isiolo, Kenya| The County Assembly of Isiolo has strongly condemned the shooting of Nicholas Lorot, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Burat Ward, who was attacked near the Northern Galaxy Hotel in Isiolo Town.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday the 26th of March 2025 , has sent shockwaves across the region, with leaders and residents calling for swift action to apprehend those responsible.
According to an official statement released nearly four hours after the incident, Lorot was rushed to the hospital immediately after the attack. Medical personnel have confirmed that he is in stable condition and under close supervision.
The County Assembly has assured the public that the Deputy Speaker, David Lemantile, has been assigned to remain at the hospital and provide ongoing support to the injured MCA and his family.
Speaking on the matter, the Speaker of the County Assembly, Mohamed Roba Qoto, OGW, CSMP(R), M.ISMI, stated that he had personally communicated with Lorot and was actively engaging with law enforcement authorities to ensure a thorough and expedited investigation.
He reaffirmed the County Assembly’s commitment to ensuring justice is served and that perpetrators of such acts of violence face the full force of the law.
“As a legislative body, we condemn this cowardly act of violence and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to peace, safety, and justice for all,” the statement read.
“We are working closely with security agencies and pledge our full support to ensure those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.”
The shooting has sparked widespread concern over the security situation in Isiolo, with local leaders and residents urging authorities to intensify efforts to curb rising crime and political violence.
While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, security agencies have launched an investigation, and further updates are expected as more details emerge.
The County Assembly has assured the public that updates regarding Hon. Lorot’s condition and the progress of the investigation will be communicated through official channels.
In the meantime, leaders have called for calm and cooperation with security agencies to facilitate a smooth and transparent investigation.
