The meeting, held ahead of a joint EAC-Southern African Development Community (SADC) session in Harare, Zimbabwe, was aimed at advancing regional efforts to restore peace and stability in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Chaired by Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, H.E. Musalia Mudavadi, the meeting focused on developing a comprehensive roadmap for tackling the ongoing security crisis in eastern DRC.

Delegates engaged in discussions on technical and logistical support for the EAC-SADC peace initiative, which seeks to strengthen cooperation between the two regional blocs in addressing the prolonged conflict in the area.

The meeting explored ways to enhance regional peacekeeping efforts, humanitarian assistance, and intelligence sharing to counter these threats effectively.

Officials also emphasized the need for stronger diplomatic engagement with the DRC government and key stakeholders to ensure a coordinated response.
