Rishi Sunak: Brief profile of UK’s new prime minister

London,UK| Rishi Sunak just became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He becomes the first person of colour, and the youngest in 200 years to strut through the hallowed doors of #10, Downing Street.

He was born in Southampton city on 12th of May 1980. His parents are of Punjabi descent. His father, a Kenyan migrant and his mother, a Tanzanian migrant who arrived in the UK in the early 60’s.

Sunak went to the Winchester College and later the prestigious Lincoln School of Oxford University. He served as the Chancellor of the Exchequer between 2019 to mid-2022 having been appointed by the then prime minister Boris Johnson.
