Nairobi, Kenya| Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo has secured unanimous backing from her fellow senators to lead the powerful Senate Committee on National Security, Defence, and Foreign Relations.

Her election comes following the untimely passing of Baringo Senator William Cheptumo, who previously chaired the influential committee.

Senator Dullo, a seasoned legislator known for her vocal advocacy and long-standing service in the Senate, assumes leadership of the committee at a critical time.

The committee plays a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s national security policies, overseeing defense matters, and guiding the country’s foreign relations.

Her election has been met with widespread support from colleagues, political allies, and leaders across various sectors.

Among those who have publicly congratulated her is National Gender and Equality Commission Chairperson Rehema Jaldesa, who praised Dullo’s achievement as another milestone in her distinguished career.

“Congratulations, my senator. The iron lady. Celebrating another milestone in your leadership,” Hon. Jaldesa remarked.

Dullo’s leadership in the committee is expected to bring experience, firm governance, and a commitment to addressing Kenya’s security and foreign policy challenges.

As the first woman to hold the position, her appointment also marks a significant step forward in advancing gender inclusivity in Kenya’s political leadership.

With Kenya facing evolving security threats and dynamic international relations, all eyes will be on Senator Dullo’s tenure as she steers the committee in addressing pressing national and regional issues.
