Kenya, United Arab Emirates hold talks to expand bilateral trade agreements

President William Ruto met high ranking officials from the United Arab Emirates(UAE) earlier this afternoon at State House where they held “fruitful” talks on plans to expand trade agreements between the nations.

The UAE delegation was led by Sheikh Shakhboot Al Nahyan who is the United Arab Emirates’s Federal Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

According to a statement that appeared on the official State House Kenya Facebook page, the two country’s have agreed to expand trade ties agreements which also involves the creation of Special Economic Zones(SEZ).

The two nations have agreed to fast-track trade agreements and set up a joint panel to explore investment partnerships in oil and gas, technology transfer, agriculture, healthcare as well as development of Special Economic Zones.

Also present at the meeting was Moses Kuria, the cabinet nominee for trade who is awaiting parliamentary approval after going through the mandatory vetting.
