•Rufas Tiya is one of the most popular artist from Northern kenya.
•She has called on her fans to support Norway-based Ethiopian artist Gutu Abera who was nominated for an Afrima Award.
She did this by posting the promotion video that Abera had earlier posted on his page accompanying it with her own message and a link to the voting website.
Gutu Abera’s song titled ‘deemmi’ an ‘Afaan Oromoo‘ word which loosely translated means ‘go’ was nominated in the category of ‘Best Jazz song by Duo/Artist.
Abera is an established Ethiopian artist who sings in the Afaan Oromoo vernacular. His song ‘deemmi’ off his latest album ‘Hawanawa‘ became the first Oromo song to be nominated for a prestigious award.
Rufas Tiya’s support comes in handy as she has a considerable number of followers. Her official Facebook page has a following of thirty five thousand(35k+) followers and an additional forty two thousand(42k+) followers in her Facebook fan group.
