In a renewed call for national unity and cooperation, Deputy Government Spokesperson Mwanaisha Chidzuga has urged Kenyans to rally behind President William Ruto’s administration as it works to fulfill its electoral promises.
Addressing concerns about the government’s progress on key initiatives, Chidzuga reassured the public of the President’s commitment to delivering on his pledges and emphasized the importance of patience and collective effort in achieving national development goals.
Government’s Commitment to Electoral Promises
Chidzuga reaffirmed that all promises made by the Kenya Kwanza administration during the 2022 general elections would be honoured.
She highlighted several flagship initiatives that the government has already rolled out, including the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), the Affordable Housing Project (AHP), and the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
According to her, these programs are instrumental in transforming Kenya’s socio-economic landscape and enhancing the quality of life for millions of citizens.
“The affordable housing project not only provides decent homes but also stimulates economic growth, creates jobs, and helps alleviate poverty across the 47 counties,” Chidzuga stated, underscoring the far-reaching impact of the initiative.
Similarly, she explained that SHIF is designed to significantly improve access to quality healthcare, particularly benefiting Kenyans struggling with economic hardships.
The initiative aims to provide universal health coverage and ensure that medical services remain accessible and affordable to all citizens.
Patience and Trust in Leadership
Acknowledging growing concerns from some quarters about the pace of implementation, Chidzuga appealed for patience, urging Kenyans to give the government the necessary time to execute its development agenda effectively.
“We ask everyone to give the President time to fulfil his promises, as he is fully committed to ensuring every pledge made to Kenyans is kept,” she added.
She also reassured citizens that the administration remains focused on delivering sustainable solutions through its Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), a strategic plan aligned with Kenya’s Vision 2030.
The Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA)
BETA serves as the framework for inclusive economic growth and development, focusing on five key pillars:
- Agricultural Transformation – Enhancing food security and boosting farmers’ incomes through improved agricultural productivity.
- MSME Economy – Strengthening micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises to promote entrepreneurship and job creation.
- Housing and Settlement – Expanding access to affordable housing while generating employment in the construction sector.
- Healthcare – Improving the quality and accessibility of medical services through SHIF and other health sector reforms.
- Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy – Investing in digital infrastructure and supporting creative industries to drive economic innovation and inclusivity.
Addressing Criticism and Opposition
Chidzuga dismissed critics opposing government programmes, describing them as economic saboteurs unwilling to support national progress.
She reiterated that while constructive criticism is welcome, opposition to development initiatives should not be driven by political interests at the expense of national growth.
“The government remains steadfast in its mission to implement transformative policies, and we urge all Kenyans to support these efforts rather than derail progress through unnecessary political divisions,” she stated.
The Road Ahead
As Kenya navigates its development trajectory, the success of these initiatives hinges on public cooperation and government accountability.
While challenges persist, the administration remains confident that its policies will yield long-term benefits, including economic resilience, job creation, and improved living standards for all citizens.
