British High Commission Delegation Engages Isiolo First Lady on Women’s Economic Empowerment

Isiolo County took a significant step towards advancing women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion as First Lady Habiba Guyo hosted a delegation from the British High Commission.

Led by Dr. Ed Barnett MBE, Deputy High Commissioner, the delegation engaged in discussions on the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s (FCDO) development initiatives in the region.

The visit focused on exploring collaborative efforts to create sustainable economic opportunities for women, recognizing their crucial role in driving the county’s development.

During the meeting, the discussions centered on strategies to enhance women’s participation in economic activities, particularly through entrepreneurship.

The delegation and county officials explored ways to provide women with access to financial resources, business development training, and support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The talks also emphasized the importance of financial inclusion, with a focus on improving women’s access to banking services, credit facilities, and digital financial solutions to foster economic independence.

Capacity-building initiatives were also highlighted as a key area of interest, with the aim of strengthening local programs that equip women with essential skills for economic participation and leadership roles.
