Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Calls for Synergy in Public Service Delivery

In a bid to enhance the implementation of the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Gideon Oyagi has called on civil servants to foster greater collaboration and teamwork.

He emphasized that a unified approach among government employees is crucial for achieving tangible development outcomes.

Speaking during a team-building exercise at the slopes of Mt. Elgon, which brought together heads of various government departments, Oyagi highlighted the need for a multi-agency approach in executing government programs.

He noted that efficient service delivery hinges on strong partnerships and coordination among different departments.

“There is a need to develop partnerships and close networks amongst ourselves if we have to deliver on the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. There’s no way you can deliver if you decide to go alone,” Oyagi remarked.

Enhancing Skills Through In-Service Training

The commissioner also urged government employees to take advantage of in-service training programs that the government has made available.

He stated that such training initiatives will equip officers with new skills and knowledge, enabling them to implement BETA effectively and improve overall service delivery.

“The government has made clear its intention to ensure that employees are equipped with skills and knowledge necessary for service delivery. That is why many in-service training programs have been introduced. It is upon us to seize these opportunities,” Oyagi challenged.

By continuously upskilling through training, he noted, public servants will not only enhance their expertise but also ensure that government policies are executed efficiently and in alignment with national development goals.

Warning Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse

Oyagi further cautioned against alcohol and drug abuse among government employees, warning that substance dependency not only compromises work performance but also affects the long-term well-being of individuals.

He, however, commended civil servants in Trans Nzoia County, stating that no officers had been adversely implicated in such vices.

He encouraged them to maintain professionalism and discipline, ensuring that their work ethic remains exemplary.

The Role of Civil Servants in BETA Implementation

The Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) is a government-driven strategy aimed at enhancing economic inclusion, creating employment, and improving service delivery at all levels.

Successful implementation of this agenda requires strong coordination among public servants, particularly those at the county and national government levels.

By fostering teamwork, continuous professional development, and ethical conduct, government employees will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the economic transformation agenda translates into real benefits for citizens.

Oyagi’s call to action serves as a timely reminder that collaboration and professional growth are key drivers of effective governance.

As Trans Nzoia County intensifies efforts to implement government programs, the commitment of civil servants to unity and efficiency will be instrumental in realizing sustainable development and economic progress.
