Mandera, Kenya| President William Samoei Ruto has launched a groundbreaking development tour of the North Eastern region, unveiling transformative projects aimed at boosting infrastructure, enhancing education, improving healthcare, and strengthening security.

Investing in Education and Digital Economy

The President began his tour at Mandera Teachers Training College, where he engaged with trainees and reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in education as a key pillar of national development.

He emphasized the government’s focus on equipping young Kenyans with essential skills to bridge educational gaps in the region.

At Mandera TVET Institute, President Ruto officially inaugurated the Jitume Digital Hub, a revolutionary project designed to provide youth with access to digital skills and remote job opportunities.

This initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision of positioning Kenya as a leader in the digital economy, ensuring that even remote regions benefit from technological advancements.

Enhancing Healthcare Services

In a major boost to healthcare services, the President inaugurated the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Mandera Campus, a key milestone in strengthening medical education in the region.

The new facility will train healthcare professionals, playing a crucial role in the rollout of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by increasing the number of skilled medical personnel serving local communities.

Water and Sanitation Infrastructure Upgrade

Addressing a long-standing challenge in Mandera, President Ruto inspected the progress of the Mandera Water Supply and Sewerage Infrastructure Project.

Once completed, the project will provide clean water and modern sanitation facilities to over 12,000 households, significantly improving public health and quality of life for residents.

Commitment to Security and Peace

Security remains a major concern in the North Eastern region, and President Ruto reassured residents of his government’s firm commitment to combating insecurity.

Speaking at Moi Stadium, Mandera, he emphasized that peace and development must go hand in hand, announcing robust measures to protect lives and livelihoods.

“Our administration is implementing concrete security strategies to ensure that Mandera and the entire North Eastern region experience lasting peace. Development can only thrive where people feel safe,” he stated.
