Isiolo, Kenya| In a significant political and developmental milestone, Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo led a high-profile delegation to the official residence of Deputy President Prof. Abraham Kithure Kindiki.

The visit reinforced a growing alliance between the Isiolo leadership and the Kenya Kwanza administration, resulting in major development pledges aimed at transforming the county.

Governor Guyo has steadily risen within the Kenya Kwanza government, earning the trust of both President William Ruto and DP Kindiki.

His close ties with the highest echelons of the administration have positioned Isiolo as the second county, after Tharaka Nithi, to be hosted by the Deputy President, highlighting its strategic importance.

A Delegation of Influence

The Isiolo delegation included key leaders such as Principal Secretary Mohamed Liban, Woman Representative Mumina Bonaya, Isiolo North MP Samal Lomwa, Deputy Governor Dr. James Lowasa, and Isiolo County Assembly Speaker Mohamed Roba Qotto (MRQ).

Also present were several Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and members of the County Executive.

Notably, the meeting also saw the participation of former Isiolo leaders, including ex-Governor Godana Doyo, former Deputy Governor Simba Gulleid, and former Members of Parliament Hassan Odha, Abdi Koropu, and Abdullahi Banticha(who is also a CECM in Governor Guyo’s administration).

A delegation of former councillors, led by veteran leaders Mr. Ngichili and Ismail Galma, further underscored the broad political backing for the engagement.

Additionally, professionals such as Adan Kabelo, Dr. Abdub Molu Ido(AMI), and Hudson Kinyua, alongside representatives of youth and women’s groups, added a strong community perspective to the discussions.

Key Developmental Commitments for Isiolo

The Deputy President announced a series of commitments aimed at addressing longstanding developmental challenges in Isiolo, focusing on security, economic growth, and infrastructure.

Security Enhancements

DP Kindiki pledged to strengthen security in Isiolo by increasing administrative units and sub-counties to improve governance and law enforcement.

Given the county’s strategic location and history of insecurity, this move was welcomed by local leaders and residents.

Economic Growth and Livelihood Improvement

To boost household incomes and create employment, the Deputy President promised targeted investments in Isiolo’s key economic sectors, particularly livestock and leather processing.

Plans were unveiled to establish a leather industry park, aimed at adding value to hides and skins, a move that will significantly benefit local pastoralist communities.

Infrastructure Development

Among the major infrastructure pledges was the completion of the Isiolo Modern Market, which will enhance trade and commercial activities.

Additionally, DP Kindiki committed to:

•Upgrading local roads to improve connectivity and transportation.•Expanding the last-mile electricity project to enhance access to power in rural areas.
•Fast-tracking the commissioning of the Isiolo County Emergency and Trauma Center, which will serve both Isiolo and neighboring counties, improving access to critical healthcare services.

A Show of Political Strength and Unity

The visit was widely seen as a demonstration of unity among Isiolo’s leadership, with Governor Guyo receiving praise from the Deputy President for his ongoing efforts to foster peace and development in the region.

The leaders expressed their gratitude for the Kenya Kwanza administration’s continued support, reaffirming their commitment to working with the government.

However, the absence of Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo from the meeting did not go unnoticed.

Her non-attendance raised speculation about possible political realignments and shifts in Isiolo’s leadership landscape.

Residents’ Reactions and Future Prospects

Residents who attended the meeting expressed optimism about the promised developments, appreciating the national government’s commitment to Isiolo.

Many pledged their continued support for Governor Guyo and the Kenya Kwanza administration, citing the positive impact of ongoing projects.

As Isiolo positions itself as a key development frontier, the pledges made during this high-level meeting mark a significant step toward economic transformation, security enhancement, and infrastructure growth.

The coming months will be crucial in determining how these promises translate into tangible benefits for the people of Isiolo.
