For the past couple of days, we have been treated to a seriously disingenuous pieces of information that have portrayed this Isiolo County in such a bad picture that one wonders if the source of this disinformation is indeed a born resident of this our beautiful land of Waso.
The talk was supposedly about Isiolo County Government paying for ‘sodas’ to a tune of a million shillings when nothing could be further from the truth.
You guessed the source of this malicious untruths: the Senate, an institution which has now lost prestige under the current crop of its extortionate members.
Allow me to break it down for you so that we can once again debunk these nefarious allegations that have been blown out of proportion by the Senator Fatuma Dullo and her army of hand-out-seeking bloggers and busy bodies.
Before going any further, let me just put it straight that this had nothing to do with the current administration of Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo despite the fact that the Senator has been foaming at the mouth trying to make it look like it is.
The audit query in question was a payment of Kes 1 million ‘comprehensive catering services’ procured from a reputable local hotel during the 8th edition of the Desert Wheel Race 2019, an event that was initiated during the previous regime to support the people living with disabilities(PLWDs).
The theme of the event was ‘Disability and Tourism- Promoting Accessible Tourism’. The event which ran from October 10th to 12th 2019 purposed to ‘promote inclusive tourism opportunities for individuals with disabilities’.
Below is the comprehensive response by Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo wherein he debunks the false narrative that is being peddled across social media by Senator Dullo’s spanner boys.
It is quite surprising that the senator Dullo cannot even bat an eyelid when lying through her teeth about such a noble initiative that has given a voice to the lesser-endowed and previously marginalized members of our society.
I believe that the previously honourable Senator Kajwang also had a malicious intent when he,pointblank, asked Gov. Guyo about paying a million for a ‘soda’ when it was clear that the amount was a catering expense for hundreds of the event attendees.
If there is a way that these senators can be sued for(knowingly) duping the public on serious audit queries that end up portraying the people of a whole county in bad light, then I suppose someone should go for it.
The senator has become a literal thorn in the flesh of the people of Isiolo County for her clearly vengeful and unreasonable demands under the guise of ‘accountability and oversight’ which comes apart when you place it under a microscope.
For starters, she has never genuinely pursued a matter seeking accountability from office holders. All she has been engaging in for the past seven(7) of her nearly twelve(12) years as a senator was seeking revenge(from office holders) on matters that we cannot even discuss about on this public platform.
She went mum during her first stint as a senator(2013-17). There was not a single day during this period that Dullo cared to even enquire about a single audit query despite glaring mismanagement of public resources, abuse of office and more vices being executed right under her watch.
Why is that? You guessed right; She was in bed with the ‘eaters’ of the time. That administration would later be investigated for the pilferage of taxpayers funds to a tune of over a billion. To date, our ‘accountable’ and ‘oversight-oriented’ Dullo has not said a word about this.
More recently, while still in her huffs to ‘frame’ Isiolo governor Guyo, her ‘friend’, the governor of Marsabit, one Mohamud Ali was arrested for failing to account for nearly Kes 8 billion of taxpayers funds.
A few weeks before the big arrest, the Senate committee which she was a part of was in Marsabit county for fact-finding mission regarding the audit queries that were raised, guess who lost her voice again? You guessed right. Dullo did not utter a word in that meeting. Her claim of oversight is therefore, neither here or there.
I wouldn’t even want to start on the wrongs she did to former Gov. Kuti’s administration, with targeted disinformation, all of which were later debunked leaving people wondering where all of the senator’s allegation were if she was indeed right on her allegations.
She is now using the same script to discredit the current administration of Governor Guyo but this time around, we shall not give her the comfort of mudslinging other leaders to benefit herself or her ‘sponsors’ who are very well known by all and sundry in Isiolo county.
In conclusion, I would like to urge the general public that anything emanating from the Senate, Fatuma Dullo or her proxies should henceforth be taken with a grain of salt. She has clearly lost the moral standing to relay genuine information to the public in any capacity. This is not even surprising coming from a former Nyayo-era D.O. Sayonara!
