Health facilities in Isiolo County have today received consignments of essential drugs from suppliers. More consignments will continue to be delivered for the better part of this week.
This comes after Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo’s administration procured drugs worth millions of shillings from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).
The first to benefit from the consignment was the Isiolo County Teaching & Referral Hospital (ICTRH), as confirmed by Deputy Director of Health Services, Mohamed Abdi while receiving the consignment.
Other health facilities, including the Merti and Garbatulla District hospitals, will receive their share of the drugs from this Wednesday. The remaining rural health facilities will receive their consignments early next week.
Mohamed noted that Governor Guyo’s administration has put in place measures to ensure that health facilities in the county do not experience shortages in the supply of drugs.
“We have this morning received a consignment of essential drugs from KEMSA that will serve ICTRH while Merti and Garbatulla Hospital will get their medicines delivered on Wednesday.”
“I want to assure County residents that this administration has put in place measures that will ensure no health facility in our County faces shortage of medicines,” said Mohamed.
He added that the Governor has instructed the Department of Health Services to engage the Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) to supply medicines that are not available in KEMSA.
The drugs received today include pharmaceutical, non-pharmaceutical, renal, theatre, and laboratory.
Isiolo County residents can now rest assured that their health facilities have an adequate supply of essential drugs, thanks to the proactive measures taken by Governor Guyo’s administration.
