Ruto holds ‘consultative’ meeting with ODM legislators+

President William Samoei Ruto and Deputy President Hon. Rigathi Gachagua Tuesday held a meeting with a section of MPs from Nyanza as a follow-up to his recent tour of the region.
The leaders explored a mechanism of working together to address national and county issues.

The MPs allied to the ODM party pledged their support to President Ruto.

The MPs said they were focused on service delivery and asked other leaders to shun politics.

They were Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East, Independent) Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o (Lang’ata), Paul Abuor (Rongo), John Owino (Awendo) and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.

The President said the government would serve all Kenyans equally.

“Elections are over, we don’t want a polarized country. We will work for all Kenyans.”

President Ruto said he will work with leaders from across the political divide for the sake of the country’s unity and economic transformation.

The legislators thanked the President for his visit to Nyanza and said their constituents are interested in service delivery.

World Bank commits to support Hustler Fund

The World Bank has pledged to support the Hustler Fund to lift Kenya’s most vulnerable group.

The promise was made during a consultative meeting between President William Ruto and World Bank Regional Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa, Victoria Kwakwa at State House Nairobi.

Ms Kwakwa said the bank will offer the Hustler Fund technical and financial support.
“The bank associates strongly with programs and initiative that empower the poor and most vulnerable. We will bring to the table ways to provide a safety net for these individuals” she said.

Ms Kwakwa said the Bank will also support the country’s programmes against climate change.

President Ruto acknowledged the role the bank had played in the development of the country.

The President called on the Bank to scale up investment in programmes to increase agricultural productivity saying the government was working on the construction of dams and fertilizer subsidies among others.

“We are looking forward to your support in our development agenda,” he said.
