On 1st of February, Kenyan President Dr. William Ruto arrived in Mogadishu for a regional meeting of frontline states on efforts to stabilize Somalia and eradication of terrorism.
He was accompanied by kenyan defence cabinet secretary Aden duale.
During the visit president ruto said, “We must disrupt the financial infrastructures, weapons supply chains and sanction the enablers of terrorism in the Horn of Africa. Our collective effort in anti-terrorism proves that peace is within reach.”
“Through common endeavour, we have the power to secure the people’s well-being and fulfil their aspirations while diminishing terrorism threat.”
He was together with Somalia President Hassan Mohamud, Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh and Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali in the Somalia Frontline States Summit on regional efforts towards stabilisation of Somalia and eradication of terrorism.
This move seeks to strengthen the relationship between the countries for economic and political growth. In recent times the nothern part of Kenya bordering Somalia and Ethiopia has been affected by Alshaabab attacks which have in turn affacted development within the region.
Kenya also looks to create a peaceful relations with Ethiopia in a bid to see their economic growth increases. The Ethiopian prime minister Abiy Ahmed seeks to improve trade between Kenya and his country at the border.
President William Ruto’s diplomacy strategy has been excellent since he took office creating a perfect environment for co-existence with other countries.
