The County Government of Isiolo has officially broken ground on a new maternity hospital in Bulapesa Ward.

Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo was represented by the health C.O Dr. Mohamed Mero who led the ceremony, marking a major step forward in local healthcare delivery.

Speaking at the event, Health Services Executive Committee (CEC) member Luqman Ahmed confirmed that the facility aims to dramatically reduce maternal mortality.

He noted that the Governor is fully committed to preventing birth related complications such as postpartum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, sepsis, and obstructed labor.

“This hospital is one of many such facilities his administration plans to build across all our wards,” Luqman added.

Chief Officer for Health Services, Dr. Mohamud Mero, reinforced the Governor’s vision.

He stated that the administration is determined to transform Isiolo’s healthcare landscape.

The goal, he explained, is to overturn the historical narrative of high death rates among expectant mothers.

The new maternity hospital in Bulapesa will offer specialized care for women during pregnancy and childbirth.

Local residents have welcomed the project, hoping it will end the dangerous trend of traveling long distances for emergency delivery services.

Once completed, the facility is expected to serve thousands of mothers, significantly lowering both maternal and child mortality in the region.
