In a fervent display of political solidarity and community advocacy, Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo has emerged as a formidable voice in the ongoing national discourse on security and leadership continuity.
Speaking at a high-profile church fundraiser in Ngaremara, Isiolo North Constituency, the Governor delivered a resolute message: the fight against crime must be ruthless in its execution but blind to ethnicity, and President William Ruto’s administration deserves the full constitutional mandate of two terms to complete its transformative work.
The event, which drew a powerful cross-section of county leadership, served as a stage for Governor Guyo to articulate what he described as a long-overdue shift in the relationship between the national government and Kenya’s historically marginalized pastoralist regions.
“No Room for Criminals, Regardless of Tribe”
With rising insecurity having long plagued the vast and rugged terrain of Isiolo, Governor Guyo threw his full weight behind the ongoing security crackdown in the region.
However, he was unequivocal about the parameters of the operation, insisting that justice must be served without prejudice.
“Criminal elements should be dealt with decisively, regardless of their community background,” Guyo stated, echoing the deep frustration of residents who have grown weary of banditry and lawlessness.
His remarks underscored a growing demand from local leaders for a security approach that dismantles criminal networks without profiling innocent communities.
Echoing this sentiment, Isiolo Women Representative Mumina Bonaya offered a measured yet firm perspective on the conduct of the operations.
While expressing appreciation for the government’s efforts, she called for the protection of vulnerable groups.
“We appreciate the government for undertaking the operation, but we urge that it be conducted fairly. It should not harm women, children, or persons with disabilities, but instead focus on pursuing criminals,” she said.
Public Service and Human Capital Development Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku, who attended as the Chief Guest, reinforced the government’s hardline stance, declaring, “Criminals must be arrested and dealt with decisively—we must rid our communities of all forms of crime.”
A Defense of Tradition and Tenure
Beyond security, Governor Guyo pivoted to the national political landscape, offering a robust defense of President Ruto’s leadership.
He argued that the current administration has set a historic precedent in recognizing the needs of pastoralist communities, claiming that “no previous administration has paid as much attention to the development of marginalized regions.”
This assertion framed the Governor’s broader political argument: that consistency and fairness in leadership are paramount.
Taking aim at opposition figures advocating for a single-term presidency, Guyo urged residents to reject what he termed political expediency.
“Leadership in Kenya should be guided by fairness and consistency,” he argued, pointing out that past presidents were afforded the courtesy of serving their full terms before retiring.
“President Ruto deserves the opportunity to complete two terms in office, in line with the country’s political tradition.” Governor Guyo firmly reiterated.
He was joined in this rallying cry by Isiolo North MP Samal Lomwa and Deputy Governor James Lowasa, who stood in unity with the Governor, signaling a cohesive front among the county’s top leadership.
Faith, Unity, and Community Service
While the undertones of the gathering were deeply political, the occasion itself was rooted in community and faith.
The leaders congregated at Ngaremara to support a fundraiser for the Jesus Christ Power of Resurrection Ministries, aimed at constructing a larger place of worship.
In a social media reflection following the event, Governor Guyo described the gathering as “vibrant and full of purpose,” emphasizing that the initiative transcended mere fundraising.
“This event goes beyond fundraising. It reflects and reinforces the core values that bind us together as a people: faith, love, and service,” he wrote.
Accompanied by a host of county leaders—including Deputy Speaker David Lemantile, Ngaremara Ward MCA Peter Losu, ODP Josephine Eregae, and other Members of the County Assembly—Guyo showcased a model of leadership that seeks to blend civic action with spiritual fellowship.
Epilogue
As the 2027 general elections loom on the horizon, Governor Guyo’s remarks in Ngaremara signal a strategic and ideological alignment with the national administration.
By intertwining his advocacy for security reforms with a staunch defense of President Ruto’s re-election bid, Guyo is positioning Isiolo not merely as a beneficiary of national policy, but as a key political ally in the battles to come.
With a unified local leadership standing behind him and a clear message of intolerance for crime and ethnic bias, the Governor has laid down a marker: in Isiolo, the path forward is one of decisive security, unwavering development, and political consistency.
