Isiolo, Kenya| The County Government of Isiolo has categorically disowned a fraudulent letter circulating on social media platforms, falsely claiming that Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan(Guyo) declined to attend a scheduled Senate appearance on July 10, 2025.

The county administration has labeled the document as a malicious fabrication, emphasizing its commitment to transparency and accountability while warning of severe legal consequences for those responsible.

In a press statement issued today, County Secretary Dade Boru categorically dismissed the authenticity of the forged letter, confirming it did not originate from the Governor’s office or any official county communication channels. “The letter is a fake, and we strongly condemn this act of misinformation aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the county leadership,” Boru stated.

He clarified that Governor Abdi Hassan is fully prepared to honor the Senate summons and is scheduled to appear before the Senate Committee from July 8 to 10, 2025, to address matters pertaining to county governance and financial oversight.

The circulation of the forged letter has raised concerns about the growing prevalence of misinformation and its potential to undermine public trust in government institutions. The County Government of Isiolo has launched a thorough investigation to identify the perpetrators behind the creation and dissemination of the fraudulent document.

Boru reiterated that those found culpable will face prosecution under Kenya’s Penal Code and the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act of 2018, which criminalize the creation and spread of false information with intent to deceive or cause harm.

“We are working closely with relevant authorities, including cybersecurity experts, to trace the origins of this forged letter and ensure that justice is served,” Boru added. The county has also appealed to the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any official communication purportedly issued by the Governor’s office.

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to contact the County Secretary’s office or visit the official Isiolo County Government website for accurate information.

This incident comes at a time when Governor Abdi Hassan’s administration is under scrutiny by the Senate for various governance and financial management issues, a common practice for county governments across Kenya.

The scheduled Senate appearance is part of routine oversight to ensure accountability in the use of public resources. The county administration has reaffirmed its commitment to cooperating fully with the Senate and other oversight bodies to address any concerns raised.
