Bulapesa, Isiolo County — A wave of optimism is sweeping through the Bulapesa ward as residents celebrate the rapid progress of the 1.5-kilometre Kachewa-Ola Jarole-Makaburini road, a transformative infrastructure project fully funded by the administration of Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo.
Launched just last month by Governor Guyo himself, the road project is already taking shape and is slated for completion within the next three months.
Designed to be a tarmacked and all-weather road, it promises to revolutionize local transport, stimulate economic activity, and enhance the overall quality of life in this long-neglected area.
Residents of Bulapesa, who have for years endured impassable muddy roads and poor infrastructure, are hailing the development as a long-overdue milestone. For many, it symbolizes a turning point not only in mobility but in socio-economic transformation.
“This is the first time I’ve witnessed real development in my hometown,” said Munira Yusuf, a lifelong resident of the area.
“I was born and raised here. We have suffered for decades with muddy, inaccessible roads, especially during the rainy season. We cannot thank Governor Guyo enough for prioritizing our needs and delivering a tarmacked road.”
Munira’s sentiments were echoed by other residents who see the road as a key enabler of progress. Ali, a local landowner, highlighted the broad economic ripple effects of the project.
“Once completed, this road will significantly boost the value of our land due to better connectivity to Isiolo town. It will also improve drainage and enhance security, making this area more attractive to investors,” he said. “It’s not just a road – it’s a path to opportunity.”
The Governor’s office confirmed that the project aligns with the broader county development agenda, which places a strong emphasis on infrastructure, equity in service delivery, and unlocking the economic potential of marginalized areas.
According to the county’s public works department, the road will also include modern drainage systems to mitigate flooding, which has been a chronic problem for the region.
Governor Guyo has consistently emphasized infrastructure as the backbone of economic empowerment and service delivery.
His administration has committed to implementing high-impact projects that directly benefit ordinary citizens across the county, especially those in underserved neighborhoods like Bulapesa.
For years, poor road connectivity in Bulapesa has impeded access to essential services, hampered emergency response, and limited business opportunities.
The new road is expected to change all that — reducing travel time, easing transport costs, and improving access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities.
Already, small businesses are anticipating increased activity as accessibility improves.
Informal traders, transport operators, and service providers are positioning themselves to tap into the anticipated economic growth brought about by improved infrastructure.
As construction continues on schedule, the mood on the ground is one of gratitude and growing hope.
Community members, elders, and youth leaders alike have expressed confidence that under Governor Guyo’s leadership, more such projects will follow — ushering in a new era of inclusive development for Isiolo County.
“This road is more than just gravel and tarmac — it is a promise kept,” said a local youth leader. “It is proof that when leaders listen, communities thrive.”
The Kachewa-Ola Jarole-Makaburini road may be just 1.5 kilometres in length, but to the people of Bulapesa, it represents a giant leap toward progress, dignity, and opportunity.
