Rufas Tiya is a an artist who hails from Marsabit County, Kenya who is a household name in the Northern Kenya region and has a considerable following from Southern Ethiopia and certain areas of Somalia.

This is because she uses Afaan Oromo as the medium for her artistic works. This is a language that is used and spoken by about 30 million of the Oromo population in both Ethiopia and also a considerable population of the Oromo diaspora scattered across Europe and North America.
