Türkiye Diyanet Foundation’s Ramadan Initiative Offers Hope to Vulnerable Households

Hundreds of low-income families in Isiolo Central, Kenya, have received critical food aid from the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV), a Turkish charitable organization committed to humanitarian assistance across the globe.

As part of its annual Ramadan relief program, TDV has distributed essential food supplies to vulnerable households, ensuring that struggling families have access to basic necessities during the holy month of fasting.

The initiative, coordinated locally by Batula Ali Maalim, has so far reached 500 households in Isiolo Central.

The food packages, designed to sustain families for several weeks, include 5kg of rice, 3 liters of cooking oil, 4kg of maize flour, 4kg of wheat flour, 2kg of sugar, 4kg of pasta, 1kg of beans, and 1kg of salt.

According to Maalim, who also serves as the Chief Officer of Public Service Management and Public Works, the program is set to expand to Kinna and other areas within Isiolo South Constituency, where an additional 600 families are expected to benefit.

The food distribution, which began yesterday, will continue for the next few days, ensuring that as many struggling households as possible receive support.

A Personal Mission of Compassion

Beyond her official role, Maalim has been personally involved in organizing this initiative for 12 years, driven by a deep passion for uplifting disadvantaged members of society.

Over the years, the program has supported between 500 to 1,000 families annually, reinforcing the importance of sustained humanitarian efforts in the region.

Expressing her heartfelt gratitude to TDV, Maalim acknowledged the organization’s unwavering commitment to providing assistance to the needy.

She emphasized that the initiative specifically prioritizes vulnerable groups, including orphanages, prisoners, and people living with disabilities.

“This charity work is more than just food distribution; it’s about restoring dignity and hope to families who struggle to put meals on their tables. The Türkiye Diyanet Foundation has been a true partner in serving humanity, and we are grateful for their continued support,” she said.

Türkiye Diyanet Foundation Extends Ramadan Support to Orphans in Isiolo

Wamy High School Received Iftar Support through Mrs. Maalim’s noble initiative to support the orphans stationed at the school.

As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts by the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) in Isiolo, a special focus has been placed on ensuring that orphans from disadvantaged Muslim communities also partake in the blessings of Ramadan.

Mrs. Batula Ali Maalim, the local coordinator of TDV’s relief efforts, has been particularly passionate about the Iftar for Orphans program, which aims to provide nutritious evening meals to orphaned students during the holy month.

One of the key beneficiaries of this initiative is Wamy High School, a private religious institution dedicated to supporting the education and welfare of orphans from low-income Muslim families.

Through TDV’s generous support, the school has received essential food rations to facilitate the daily iftar program, ensuring that students have a warm meal to break their fast.

Speaking about the initiative, Mrs. Maalim expressed her deep commitment to uplifting vulnerable children, emphasizing that Ramadan should be a time of unity and compassion, especially for those who lack family support.

“Orphaned children often face immense struggles, and ensuring that they receive proper meals during Ramadan is a cause very close to my heart. Thanks to TDV’s unwavering support, these students can observe the fast without the burden of food insecurity,” she stated.

This initiative aligns with TDV’s broader mission of serving humanity without discrimination, extending aid to orphanages, prisoners, and people with disabilities.

The foundation’s support for Wamy High School reflects its dedication to not only providing food relief but also fostering education and empowerment among vulnerable groups.

Türkiye Diyanet Foundation: A Global Force for Good

The Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) is a humanitarian organization rooted in Islamic tradition, founded on the principle that “The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others.”

Established in 1975, TDV operates in 149 countries worldwide, offering assistance in education, cultural development, religious services, and social welfare programs.

Over the years, the foundation has built 3,817 mosques, 2,866 Quran courses, and over 100 educational institutions across different countries.

It also actively supports crisis-stricken regions affected by war, natural disasters, and poverty, ensuring that millions of people receive relief aid, including food, healthcare, and educational support.

During Ramadan, TDV extends its charitable efforts by providing iftar meals and food packages to struggling communities, ensuring they can observe the holy month with dignity.

Similarly, during Eid al-Adha, the foundation organizes Qurbani meat distributions in underprivileged regions, allowing the less fortunate to partake in the festivities.

Sustaining the Spirit of Giving

The food distribution program in Isiolo is a testament to the power of international humanitarian partnerships.

With poverty and food insecurity still a challenge in many parts of Kenya, initiatives like these offer a crucial lifeline for families struggling to survive.

As the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation continues to expand its footprint in Kenya and beyond, it remains a beacon of hope for vulnerable communities.

Its unwavering dedication to serving humanity, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or nationality, reflects the essence of compassion and solidarity that Ramadan embodies.

For the hundreds of families in Isiolo who have received this support, the relief is more than just food—it is a reminder that they are not forgotten, and that kindness knows no borders.

As TDV continues its Ramadan relief program across Isiolo and beyond, its impact remains profound—not just in filling plates but also in instilling hope, dignity, and a sense of belonging for those who need it most.
