Marsabit, Kenya| Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali (Abshiro) has taken decisive action against financial misconduct by suspending three senior finance officials over alleged ethical violations.

The officials, including Finance and Economic Planning Executive Adan Kanano, Chief Finance Officer Boru Dulacha, and Chief Officer for Revenue and Resource Mobilization Wolde Wesa, have been placed on mandatory three-month leave to allow for investigations into reported breaches of work ethics.

Kanano has been dismissed from his position altogether.

In response to the vacancies, Governor Ali has appointed Hussein Ali Fundi as the Acting County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Finance and Economic Planning, Godfrey Godana as the Acting Chief Finance Officer, and Galm Guyo as the Acting Chief Officer for Revenue and Resource Mobilization.

These interim appointments will last for three months as the administration reviews the situation and ensures continuity in service delivery.

The governor’s move is widely regarded as a crackdown on financial mismanagement, signaling his commitment to accountability and ethical governance within the county.

Beyond the finance department, Governor Ali has also reshuffled key members of the county executive.

In a strategic realignment, Adan Hirbo Dorche, who previously served as the CECM for Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Cooperative Development, has been reassigned to the Department of Lands, Housing, Energy, and Urban Development.

Amina Chala Abdi has been moved to the Department of Public Service and Administration, while Jeremy Ledany, formerly the head of Culture, Gender, and Social Services, has been transferred to Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Cooperative Development.

In another change, Dr. Galwab has taken over as the CECM for Culture, Gender, and Social Services.

The County Secretary, Hussein Tari Sasura, officially announced these changes, emphasizing that the shake-up was necessary to improve governance, enhance efficiency, and reinforce compliance with ethical standards.

This latest development is seen as part of Governor Ali’s broader reform agenda, aimed at strengthening governance structures and ensuring integrity in Marsabit County’s administration.
