Highlights of Nasra Beiby’s Debut Album Launch

Nasra Beiby is a fairly popular vernacular artist, singer, musician and songwriter in her own words. She has recorded and performed a number of songs since she boldly made her entrance only about three years ago.

Nasra is also on record for being the first local artist to premier an official 4k high definition music video.

The song, titled ”gaff thuri”, an afaan oromo phrase which loosely translated implies ‘a long time ago’ is a love song about a budding love which nonetheless faces outside challenges as her supposed lover starts cheating on her and treating her badly.

The video is one of the most viewed on her Youtube channel garnering over 400k views in the couple of years that it has been there.

It is one of the most contemporary videos ever produced locally with Nasra using the services of popular local tiktokers as her vixens hence pushing up its demand.

The song, ‘Gaff Thuri, unquestionably is one of the records that effortlessly makes it one of the favourite pieces i the album. You may watch it for yourself below on her Youtube channel.

The Album Launch
Nasra Beiby officially launched her debut album on the …. at the newly commissioned ‘Ayyo Village’ resort. The self-titled album is one of its kind to be launched locally in Isiolo by a contemporary artist.

A number of big names performed at the launch of the album among them Bonaya Doti who is regarded as the ‘King of Sikulangi’ due to his renditions of old Borana songs.

He has also made a name for himself as one of the most sought-after campaign musicians and last year’s general election was said to be one of his best years in the arts industry.

He has made songs for numerous key local politicians mostly from Marsabit and Isiolo but also in other Borana-speaking counties such as Tana River, Mandera and Wajir,. See his electric performance below.

Other artists that performed at the event include Rufas Tiya, a local favourite, and Zeze Nature, another contemporary artist from Isiolo who comes from the same township as Nasra Beiby.

They both hail from Kulamawe township, a town which is located in Kinna ward, which lies adjacent to Garbatulla township. Rufas Tiya was however one of the main attractions at the event being a household name locally. She is also a radio favourite being one of the most requested artists in the local vernacular radio stations.
