author

Maria Roon is a young Kenyan lady of Somali descent who has beaten countless odds to create a niché for herself in the ever dynamic digital space.

At just 22 years, she has managed to publish a few books, graduate from two colleges, started a travel company, learnt a henna/beauty/make up arts and alongside her bestfriend broke ground for a thriving pastry/cookies business.

A jack of trades basically, Miss Noor is also a Matatu culture enthusiast and even has one of her murals proudly plastered on the back of one of Nairobi’s most popular ‘nganyas’.

One of her books, ‘Nobody Knows My Pain’, was adopted by the Kenyan Education ministry as one of the recommended books for public high school students.

The book, according to a review given by herself on Facebook, is based on her life in the shanties of Nairobi where she says life wasn’t exactly a ‘bed of roses’.

Her incredible story of grace to grass has been featured by a number of national media houses including Citizen TV Kenya.
